- Review your unit 3 personal assessment of your psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. Reflect on these areas . How did you score yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 in unit 3? How do you score yourself now? Has the score changed? Why or why not? I score myself in each area of my life as 7/7/8 and now I score myself as an 8/8/9 so I have improved and will continue to improve towards better wellness.
- Review the goals and activities you set for yourself in each area. Have you made progress toward the goals? Explain. I have progressed in each area of my life it has been a stressful journey but I know God will not leave me to do this alone. I will keep writing in my journal, meditate, workout, read, get plenty of rest, get a lot healthier and continue to read my devotionals.
- Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in each of the three areas? Explain. Yes each day it gets better and working my busy mind is a journey in itself but I'm getting better at it trying to maintain the mind to focus in stillness, practice makes it better not perfect.
- Summarize your personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this experience improve your ability to assist others? My well being has improve a great deal since I've been in this class, the most rewarding was listening to Professor calming voice and her meditation cds and getting the most out of this class as well as getting to know my classmates. The most difficult to me was getting my mind to relax and enjoy my surroundings with a peaceful stillness environment that I could connect to. I will help others by smiling, hugging, sharing the word of God through my devotions and continue to pray for others and with others.

Unit 9 Project
“The Better Me”
Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself
First and foremost you must be passionate when it comes to your own health and well being before you can give it to others. Having a focus mind and a focus heart to know that everybody has a story, everybody is unique, and everybody is their own person with a different mindset and with a different situation. In spirituality you have to know that there is a higher power or God and having that faith and acknowledge that we all are on earth for a purpose. Know your place in life and what’s in your heart before you can give it to someone. Physically you must be fit and healthy by eating right, working out right, get plenty of rest yourself before you can teach it to someone. When I fist enter this class I was not aware of how to keep my busy mind still it would wonder off into things I had to do or why am I not doing this with my life or why am I stuck or why did my marriage failed. So I had to get my busy mind into what I call my fantasy world a place where I take my mind when I just want good things happening to me like the best job or having lots of money, beautiful house, nice cars, my own office, where I’m a Spiritual coach, married to my best friend, and just enjoying my girls and my new life. So now that I know how to get my busy mind still I can now enjoy doing meditation daily, it makes me feel free and I love that. Spiritual I still taking my walk with God and reading my devotions daily and now I’m praying and talking more to people, and it really feels good to do that. I post daily quotes and devotions on my face book page, feel free to add me (Shawna Banks McLean). Physical I still new improvement there’s always room for that in every aspect of my life. I lost 50 lbs a few months back because I was so stressed and I lost it too fast but it did feel really good to have that weight off, so now I’m doing it the right way trying to eat right, yes I said trying to (smile) it’s really hard. I was doing taebo every day but I have a bad knee so now I’m just walking every day for about an hour or so. I have high blood pressure so it’s very important for me to keep my weight down and get right. I will get better and do better with progression and not perfection.
II Assessment:
How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically? I have assessed my health in each domain first by giving myself the freedom to relax and get to know where I’m at right now to where I want to be at this moment and know where I’m going, Psychologically, Spiritually and Physically. I write in a journal now at first I didn’t because I felt that it was useless and I wasn’t going to follow through but now my mind, body, and spirit is thinking differently and I feel blessed and proud of myself to have come so far in my life I’m not where I used to be mentally or spiritually. When I started this class I was at a 5 Spiritually, at a 6 Psychologically, and 5 Physically and now I would say Spiritually I’m at 8 and Physically 7 and Psychologically 9 so I have grown and I will continued to grow.
III Goal development:
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual. The only goal I can honestly said that I have set for myself is that I will continued to grow in each area of my life such as get to my ideal weight that is to lose my weight. Mentally I will set a goal for myself to complete my BS and continued on to my Masters and I will open a Women’s Shelter to serve battered women and their Children. I will continue to pray and talk to women and if God leads me to be a Spiritual Coach or Leader I will obey and do so. Spiritually I will meditate, pray, continue in my fantasy world to free my mind and be the woman that God has planned me to be. I will also continue to write in my journal.
IV Practices for personal health:
What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, I will continue to walk daily and Taebo daily along with my daughter and boyfriend and if time permits I will cook healthy meals every night not just for myself but for my family. A better health makes a better me. I will keep my mind free from what I didn’t do years earlier or why I didn’t go to school before now or why did I get married to an abusive man and stayed with him for so long. I will keep my mind free from negative thoughts and away from negative people. I only keep positive people in my life and I know that I can’t change people they have to change for themselves. I have learned to think with my heart and not with my mind. I have learned that everybody got a story and a smile or a hug goes a long way. Let go and let God. Spiritually my walk with God is a journey that I am so blessed to be taking and that God does not put on us no more then what we can handle. I will continue to pray, listen to my Gospel, read my devotions daily and show loving kindness to all mankind even if its not giving back to me.

Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.
V Commitment:
How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness? I will continue to write in my journal and try not to fall back and if I do I will regain my strength and get back on track. I know how I’m feeling when I stay focus so it won’t be to hard to get back up. I will set an alarm on my cell or my boyfriend’s mouth (smile) telling me alright it’s time to workout or pray or meditate do whatever it takes to get your mind focus on the positive and do what God has plan for you to do. Life’s a wonderful journey and we can break or be strong but the world’s going to go on even if we’re not ready for whatever, so I would rather be strong, be focus, be a better me, love me, love people, and do my best and know that my best is all I can give.

Unit 8
1. Review the exercises and practice sessions you have completed in this course. (Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation etc.) Choose two practices that you have determined to be most beneficial. How can you implement these practices in your personal life to foster mental fitness? Provide specific examples
Visualization is the most I benefit from because I do have a vivid mind something I didn't know until now especially when I start writing in my journal or just writing on paper. I can actually take myself back to a point in time when I feel the most safe feeling that presence of my Mother and Grand Mother and the smell of something cooking or that smell of fragrance when they hug me or even the sound of a certain program of the television.I can get in stillness and go back in time whenever I need to. another practices that I can benefit from is Meditation is another form of prayer and I can do this any time laying in bed, reading, watch tv, eating, or walking. you dont have to try to impressed GOD or the Higher Power with your prayers a small prayer just thanking GOD for all things is good enough. I'm praying daily sometimes all day long for others as well as myself. Sometimes it can be hard to pray when you have so much on your mind but I will ask GOD to just take this because it's too hard for me to do alone, having that faith will get your through anything.

Unit 7 Exercise
1. Complete the "Meeting Asciepius" exercise on track #4 of the Dacher CD. Describe your meditative practice(s) for the week and discuss the experience. Explain how mindfulness or meditation has fostered an increase in your psychological or spiritual wellness. How can you continue to apply these practices in your life to foster greater health and wellness? When I first started this class and doing the Loving Kindness Meditation I had the hardest time getting my busy mind to stillness but the more I listen to the cd and got myself into quietness I began to do this daily and the more I practice the more I began to see a huge difference. I feel so blessed with just life itself and having that kindness in my heart to put others before myself. I will continued on to much improvement for a better life of wellness.
2. Describe the saying: "One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself (P.477) How does this apply to the health and wellness professional? Do you have an obligation to your clients to be developing your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually? Why or why not? How can you implement psychological and spiritual growth in your personal life? I can't tell somebody about something that I never been myself and I would not give somebody any advice about something I know nothing about. I feel if I've been there and done it then I will share it. I do have an obligation to my clients to develop my health psychologically physically and spiritually to better myself will benefit them into growing in areas that are well needed.

Unit 6 2010
I had to refocus my mind on sitting in the woods the air was chilly with nothing but trees and then the sounds of birds chirping, I had to blocked that sound out but suddenly my mind focus on my knee and my Doctor's appointment. So back to the woods I go after about 5 or 10 minutes I witness quietness and stillness. I was finally there ahhh peace so peaceful and relaxing. I'm really feeling like I'm actually getting to that point where I know how to free my busy mind. This feeling is wonderful the universal kindness exercise is somehow working wonders for me. Wow! I will continuing to practice this daily now that I know how to get my mind where it needs to be to experience that stillness.

Unit 5 Exercise
1.Compare and contrast the Loving Kindness exercise and the Subtle mind exercise. Explain your experience including the benefits, frustrations etc. They both was somewhat similiar but you can't have one without the other which is a subtle mind first before acquiring the loving kindness. I have a busy mind and it's hard to stay focus, it takes a lot of practice to get that good attention span that I need. But on the other hand the cd and both exercise can be relaxing and very enjoyable if I can just stay focus and acquire that calmness and stillness.
2. Discuss the connection of the spiritual wellness to mental and physical wellness. Explain how the connection is manifested in your personal life. I still have a lot of work to do on myself to be where I want to be mentally and physically in mind and body before I can feel that spiritually. I need more mental and physical workout in order to improved my spiritual workout.
