My Journal

1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why?
a.) 7
b.) 8
c.) 7
Physical I am not where I need to be I workout I do Taebo and ye the last time I weigh myself I lost 12 lbs but still have more lbs to lose.
Spiritual I am still taking my walk with GOD and I am still learning and still got some growing to do.
Psychological I need to meditate more read more pray more just getting in the habit to meditate daily will help me from being under a lot of stress from personal issues or daily life situation.
2. Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).
My goal is to get where I need to be physical, spiritual and psychological by doing more of what I mention above.
3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal? Yoga, Meditate, Pray, Tai Chi, Read, and Pray more Prayer is the answer for all things big or small.
4. Complete the relaxation exercise The Crime of the Century.  To hear this exercise, click here. Describe your experience. (What it beneficial? Frustrating? etc.)

  2. Hello. I find it interesting that we rated ourselves almost the same. I also read another blog with nearly the same ratings. I think most of us feel pretty comfortable with ourselves as far as our overall health but still have room to improve. It would be a bit surprising to see these numbers at the very top or bottom of the scale since no one is completely healthy or unhealthy in all areas. I like your goals for improving in each area. I find it interesting that you mentioned 'prayer is the answer for all things big or small'. Does this apply to the physical aspect of wellness as well? I enjoyed reading your post, look forward to reading more in the future!

  3. Hello Steve,
Yes I notice we rated almost the same. Prayer is the answer for all things big or small I'm true to this statement and I feel this in my heart. To answer your question. "Does this apply to the physical aspect of wellness as well?" Yes,I pray for strength before I work out and I pray for strength to have that will power not to overeat. This is how I get through my life routine just pray and let go and let God have his way. I hope I answer your question Steve I enjoy reading your post. Have a great week!

  4. Ms. Banks

I enjoyed your blog. I was where you are before I got married back in July. I was 50 pounds heavier than I needed to be for health reasons and my wedding dress. I worked out everyday all day, I did every diet possible and still was not losing weight. Once I started to get my stress level lowered, stop worrying about everything and everyone around me, worked out 3 days a week instead of 6 my wieght stared to drop. Thats why I like this class because I strongly believe that your mind and body have to be on the same page for anything to be healthy. Once your mind becomes healthy your body will as well. Hope you understand my overall statement. See you in class.

  5. Hi Ulaunda,
Please don't call me Ms Banks it makes me feel older than 45 (smile). I truly believed that taking this class will help us to get our mind and body on the same path for all to be healthy. Yes I understand your statement and thank you for sharing your story with me, this was much needed. See you in class :)

  6. Hi Ms. Banks, I liked your post. I also agree that things like prayer, and different forms of exercise would improve my overall physical, psychological and spiritual well being.

If I had any advise for you I would say to keep going no matter what and make these positive changes for yourself and not someone else.

I also believe that client's could benefit from your wellness plan because most people already wish that they prayed and exercised on a regularly basis. I'm sure that if given the option, many clients would choose to improve in the same or similiar manner.

  7. Hi, I like the strategies you came up with to help you achieve your goals. I think your strategy of mediation is something that would be beneficial for me as well. Prayer is another of your strategies that has worked well for many of my family members. Tai chi and yoga would be beneficial for many others as well because of the positive physical and mental benefits they provide.

    Hi Erik,

  9. One of things that I really admire about these subjects of spiritual, physical, and psychological aspects of wellness is the connection between them. I really believe that the more you focus on the goals you have set for yoga, meditation, pray, etc. you will find more connections spiritually and provide psychological clarity. This will energize you to follow your physical goals which will also focus your mind, and help you focus on your spirituality. Its like a constant circle of Celtic knots that remain connected at all times.
